Professional experience: After graduating from the institute Vladimir Chub worked at the Krasny Flot fleet maintenance and repair base (1971-1980, with a two-year break on Army service): as a foreman, head of division, senior engineer. His career in public service began in 1980, when he joined the Party bodies, serving as the second secretary of the Proletarsky city district CPSU Committee, Rostov-on-Don (1980-1983). From 1983 to 1985 he worked as senior engineer of the Volga-Don shipping line; from 1985 to 1989 served as the first secretary of the Proletarsky district CPSU Committee. In 1989 Vladimir Chub was elected the Chairman of the Rostov City Executive Committee, in 1991 he was elected the Chairman of the Rostov City Soviet of People’s Deputies. On October 1991, Boris Yeltsin, the then President of the Russian Federation, appointed Vladimir Chub Head of the Administration of the Rostov Region; in 1993 he was elected to serve as the member of the Council of the Russian Federation; on September 1996, he was elected Head of the regional administration (Governor) and was re-elected on September 2001. From 1998 to 2001 he served as the Chairman of the Association For Social and Economic Co-operation of the North Caucasian republics, territories and regions. An academician, honored member of the Russian Academy of Transportation. |
| Awards, honorary titles: For his leadership Vladimir Chub was awarded the numerous orders and medals, including the Honor Order (1996), and two For Services to Homeland Orders (1998, 2003). |
