Education: The State Pedagogical Institute of Karelia (1971).
Professional experience: Laryssa Kolbasina moved to Novorossiysk in 1972. She joined the staff of the city’s Museum of History in 1974 and worked there as a guide, research officer, head of the Economy Dept. In 1986, she was appointed director of the museum, in 1988, director of the Novorossiysk Museum-Reserve of History. Under her guidance there were created such expositions as Nikolay Ostrovsky Memorial, Climate and Environment of the Novorossiysk Region, Golden and Silver Artifacts, etc., restored publishing activities.
Membership: Secretary of the city Council on Arts (since 1994), member of the city administration’s commissions on heraldry and place-naming.
Awards, honorary titles: The Sign of Honor Order (1986), the Jan Masaryk medal For Contribution to Development of Czech-Russian Relationships (2003). The Krasnodar Krai Administration’s Award (2000). Person of the Year (2003) in the category For Work on Protection of the City’s Cultural and Historic Heritage (2003) award.
Family: Married, has a daughter, Anna, and two grand-daughters to whom she is devoting all her time to spare.
Hobbies: Poetry, classical music, fine arts, history. She is an active museum-goer.
